It was 13 years ago that Sonya and I first met Ron ( and Mary ) when we moved into the house next door. We had bought a bungalow in need of significant TLC and promised ourselves that if we didn’t like the area we would do it up and sell on . On the first morning we were greeted by “hello we are Mary and Ron,we know you don’t have any facilities so would you like to drop in for coffee?” We did and Ron duly showed us all the work they had done on a bungalow in a worse starting place than we had, with a promise to give us any help we might need. We knew then that we had hit the jackpot, and so it proved. Ron was the last of a generation, a true English gentleman, always ready to provide a helping hand or well considered advice. We miss you Ron, but are honoured to have had you in our lives. Every morning whilst making an early morning tea I look out for you going to get the paper and returning with a gentle nod and a wave. Rest in peace.
